Upcoming CEDI Gateway Outage – December 4, 2009
The current National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) front-end process will be transitioning from the durable medical equipment Medicare administrative contractors (DME MACs) to Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) beginning November 2009 and completing in December 2009.
In order to implement this process, it will be necessary to bring down the CEDI Gateway at 3:00 p.m. eastern time (ET) on Friday, December 4, 2009 to install the NCPDP processing. The Gateway will be down until no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, December 4, 2009. During this time Trading Partners will be unable to connect and exchange X12 or NCPDP transactions with CEDI.
NCPDP claims received as of 3:00 p.m. ET on December 4, 2009 will be processed by both CEDI and the DME MACs and trading partners will utilize the DME MAC reports to identify the accepted and rejected claims.
NCPDP claims received after the CEDI Gateway re-opens on December 4, 2009 will only be processed by CEDI and trading partners will utilize the CEDI reports to identify the accepted and rejected claims. CEDI will also assign the claim control number (CCN) to accepted claims and deliver the accepted claims to the appropriate DME MAC based on the beneficiary state code submitted on the claim.
The following manuals are available to assist with this implementation:
- The CEDI NCPDP Front-End Manual provides the new CEDI front-end process/reports for the upcoming transition occurring November 2009 through December 2009.
- The NCPDP Error Code Manual provides the DME MAC front-end process/reports that are currently in place and will continue to be produced through December 4, 2009.
Both manuals can be downloaded at http://www.ngscedi.com/outreach_materials/outreachindex.htm.
Questions on the changes to the NCPDP front-end process may be directed to the CEDI Help Desk at ngs.cedihelpdesk@wellpoint.com or 866-311-9184.
